The Stronghold & Six is the result of years of hands-on rebuilding, problem-solving, and a genuine respect for making a home solid, comfortable, and useful. When its owners purchased the property in 2018, the nearly 3,000-square-foot concrete home had been stripped largely back to its shell. Since then, they have rebuilt it room by room—installing new finishes, flooring, cabinetry, fixtures, plumbing components, windows, doors, trim, and countless details—while preserving the qualities that made the property unusual in the first place: massive concrete walls, radiant floors, high ceilings, generous rooms, and six private acres surrounded by trees and open sky. Much of the work was done by the owners themselves, with the practical eye of people who know how things are built rather than simply how they photograph. The result isn't a cookie-cutter remodel or a polished suburban showpiece. It is a strong, quiet, unexpectedly spacious home that has been thoughtfully brought back to life—a place designed to be lived in, worked in, gathered in, and enjoyed for a very long time.
We hadn’t planned on leaving our Stronghold & Six, and if life had followed the original script, we probably wouldn’t be. An unexpected family obligation is taking us in a different direction, which means passing this place on sooner than we imagined. We poured our energy into making the house solid, comfortable, and ours; the outside never quite made it to the “pretty” phase. Maybe that’s not such a bad thing—there’s still room for the next owner to put their own stamp on it and have a little fun. We have truly loved living here in this friendly and relaxed neighborhood, and leaving is very much a matter of circumstance, not desire.
